Former Ghana International Emmanuel Frimpong has revealed how he got his first deal to join Russian outfit Ufa.
Frimpong joined Ufa in 2014 after leaving English club Barnsley. The 29-year-old disclosed it was his agent in Ghana who told him about the move, and he did not hesitate.
The former Arsenal midfielder went on to spend three years in Russia, playing for Ufa and Arsenal Tula.
"One of my agents from Ghana said that a team from Russia is interested in me. I consulted with my friends who live in your country: they said - I will not have any problems. Then I talked to the boss of Ufa," he told Sport 24.
"Yes, he really wanted to see me on the team. I was made a good offer and I agreed. Before that, I had never played outside of England, and it was not at all easy to go to Russia then. But that was exactly what I wanted," he added.
Frimpong left Russia in 2017 to continue his career in Sweden but had to prematurely announxe retirement due to persistent injuries.
